Our Year 2-4's

Years 2 to 4 are taught by Claire Bennett. 

 

For these students, focus lies on becoming  independent learners. During the earlier formative years, our learning focuses heavily on reading, writing and counting. Once these skills have been mastered the focus changes to using the tools and making more meaning of what the students encounter.

 

Wherever possible we 'tap' into the students interests and ideas to help engage them in their learning - to make it both authentic and fun.

 

Our mornings are filled with a strong phonics programme - spelling, reading, writing and maths - while the afternoons are used to explore other curriculum areas, either as a whole class or in conjunction with other classes to enhance our tuakana teina relationships across the school.
